THE GUNS

Green Light Instructors are experienced gunmen. While many other CCW schools encourage, if not require, the use of their guns and ammo for the course, we do not.

Why? Imagine practicing to drive a Volkswagon Beetle, then being required to drive a Kenworth for the test. Why practice with my gun, then when the time to defend yourself is suddenly upon you, you have a different gun?

A shooter can only be good if the shooter is confident using his or her own weapon. Safeties, trigger pull, action, are all parts of shooting accurately that you need to get used to.

We're not trying to sell you a handgun. We will accept any handgun that YOU feel comfortable shooting as long as it is in a good and safe working condition.

It's YOUR confidence in your ability to shoot and in your weapon that counts.

We do recommend a hand gun that fires at least 5 rounds without reloading, and a minimum calibre of .38 Special. However, if you feel comfortable with a .22. .25, or 44 magnum, bring it along.

Extra Speed loaders for revolvers, or extra magazines for semi-automatics are encouraged. Tactical reloades, or fast reloading of a weapon is discused and demonstrated. However, as said before, it's all what your comfortable with. If you intend to carry a two shot derringer, than feel free to bring it along.

BRYAN RUTHERFORD, RIGHT, WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO USE A FIREARM IN SELF DEFENSE AFTER THE CCW LAW PASSED IN MISSOURI.  SINCE THE VERY FIRST CLASS, WE HAVE USED THIS CASE AS AN EXAMPLE, SHOWING THE WAY THE MEDIA PORTRAYED HIM.

BRYAN DROPPED BY SUPRISINGLY ON SUNDAY AND SPOKE TO THE CLASS ABOUT THE LEGAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL RESULTS OF THE SHOOTING.  HE IS PICTURED ABOVE WITH INSTRUCTOR FRANK GARREN, ALSO A SURVIVOR OF CLOSE QUARTER BATTLE.
